Happy February everyone! It’s been one month of 2021 and boy am I feeling it. So let’s do a little check in:
How are you feeling? About the goals you set out for yourself this year? About your overall well being at this moment? Are you still feeling a little bit stuck?
Now that we’ve reflected a little bit, let’s think big picture. For me, 2021 isn’t about goals that I’m going to set out for and lose momentum on a few weeks in. Instead, 2021 is about establishing new habits that will help me, and maybe you, become the healthiest version of ourselves through achievable habits that help us feel our BEST.
Now, I’m taking part and running a 21-day challenge with the help of doTERRA starting TODAY, and hope you come along with me on this journey towards building the best daily habits.
Here’s what you’ve got to know:
Taking charge of your health and happiness requires incremental change.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you hate big changes because they can get a bit overwhelming. That’s why we’re going to start small, and build micro habits that become second nature and we don’t have to think about them.
Small steps will take you towards big changes.
Habit stacking. Instead of trying to make huge changes and remember them all at once, take advantage of the habits you already have and add small things to them. Like, if you really want to start flossing, take the 30 seconds it takes to warm up the shower before bed to floss. You’re already going to take a shower and now, instead of hopping around trying to stay warm, you’ll be spending your time building micro habits!
Big changes will seem like nothing once they become programmed into your day.
All of our daily habits work on a loop that we don’t even realize anymore cue-->habit-->reward. At the start of building habits, this cycle is clear to us but as we continue to use them daily, they become second nature.
So now that you know the big three steps towards cultivating change slowly into your daily routine, ask yourself this: What habit do I want to cultivate during these next 21 days? Over the next 3 weeks, I’ll be slowly releasing information in digestible chunks about the importance of developing a consistent habit regarding adequate hydration, daily movement, and healthy sleep, but you don’t have to stop there! Choose whatever you’ve been striving for!
